Car Insurance is a vehicle insurance policy to safeguards the insurer from financial losses in case of unexpected risks such as accidents, thefts or third party liabilities.

RR Insurance offeres car insurance policies to select one that best suits your needs. According to Motor Vehicles Act in India, a car insurance policy is not a choice, it’s a necessity and compulsory.

There are two types of car insurance: 'Third-Party Insurance' and 'Comprehensive Car Insurance'.

Third Party car insurance policy is specifically designed to cover any property damages or bodily injuries to a third party caused by your vehicle. It’s obligatory to have third party car insurance for all motor vehicles piling on road in India.

Comprehensive car insurance, on the other hand, is purchased when you want to be compensated for any damages to you, your co-passengers and your vehicle in addition to third-party coverage. That means in case of an accident, theft, fire, explosion or natural disasters, your car will be insured under a comprehensive car insurance policy. Hence this is the most preferred plan.​

The IDV (Insured Declared Value) is the current market value of the car which is calculated after deducting the depreciation amount. It is a crucial component of the car insurance policy as it determines the amount of compensation. In case of theft or total destruction of the car, the IDV is offered as "Sum Insured".

Electrical accessories cover any electrical and/or electronic equipment that is not factory fitted with the vehicle, e.g. music system, LCD mini TV, Fog lights, etc. Value of electrical accessories will be as declared by the insured.

Non-electrical accessories cover any non-electrical/ non-electronic equipment that is not factory fitted with the vehicle, e.g. mag wheels, leather seats, CNG-kit, interior fittings, etc.

The full form of NCB is No Claim Bonus. It is presented to the owner of the vehicle, who is also the policy holder. In cases when not even a single claim is made during the entire term of the policy, you are entitled to a discount on your premiums. You can avail up to 50% discount on your premiums if you consecutively do not make any claim every year. In case you do make a car insurance claim, NCB does not come into action. You can transfer NCB to your new vehicle, if the vehicle is of the same class.

The NCB Protector protects earned No claim Bonus, in the event of an Own Damage claim made for Partial Loss including claims for Windshield glass, Total Loss and theft of Vehicle/accessories.

The company undertakes to pay compensation for bodily injury / death sustained by the owner-driver of the vehicle upto Rs. 15 lakh, in direct connection with the vehicle insured. For nature of injury and scale of compensation, please refer to the policy wordings.

The third party car insurance only covers your legal liability for any loss and damages to third party because of your car. It will not cover you or your car for any damages suffered.

Contact your insurance provider, register a claim online or at the branch with a duly-filled claim form and necessary documents to support your claim. The company will follow up with the claim settlement which includes the excess you have to pay to obtain the claim.

In the case of a severe accident or damage to your vehicle, arrange for medical attention to anyone injured at the spot. Take down details of other vehicles involved in the accident.

If it is not be possible for you to move your car, ensure your vehicle is protected from further damage at the spot. Don’t start the engine and avoid driving your vehicle if the vehicle is not in drivable condition.

In the case of death, injury, theft, burglary, third-party property damage, house break or damage due to malicious acts like strike, riot, and terrorist activity, inform the nearby police station immediately.

Call the insurance company as soon as possible to intimate a claim. We will guide you about the claims process and the requirements to process a claim.

Please do not dismantle or start repairs before the vehicle is inspected by RR Insurance.

For a theft claim, inform the insurance company immediately, even if the police have not been informed yet and we will explain the entire process to you. However, it is important to file a First Information Report with the police as soon as possible.

We require the following documents to process your accident claim

  • Duly completed claim form signed by the insured
  • Driving License of the driver at the time of accident – Photocopy along with original for verification and return. For some cases, self attested photocopy is also accepted.
  • Registration Certificate of the vehicle – Photocopy along with original for verification and return. For some cases, self attested photocopy is also accepted.
  • Other documents may be requested depending on the requirements of the claim.

If your car has an additional CNG/LPG kit it has to be insured separately. You have to declare the additional fittings at the time of making the insurance policy proposal.
